Java Architect
Clearance: SC Eligible Duration: 6 months (Inside IR35) Rate: £626 GBP/day Location: Telford / 2 days onsite per week

We are a global recruitment specialist supporting clients across EMEA, APAC, US, and Canada. We currently have an exciting opportunity available for a Java Architect to design innovative technical solutions that align with business needs.
About the Role
The Java Architect will shape technical direction, ensure designs meet client standards, and deliver scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions. This role focuses on working actively with stakeholders, technical teams, and delivery partners to influence design decisions and ensure smooth delivery timelines.
Key Responsibilities
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Produce architecture designs that meet both technical and business requirements
- Collaborate with delivery teams, product owners, engineers, and testers to shape technical approaches
- Convert complex requirements into clear, practical design decisions
- Develop architecture docs, diagrams, and supporting rationale
- Ensure secure, scalable, scalable, and maintainable solutions align with client standards, security, and governance frameworks
- Support build, testing, deployment, and change processes
- Participate in design reviews and support technical assurance
- Communicate technical decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Identify risks, issues, and constraints early and support resolution efforts

Deliverables
Throughout the role, you will be responsible for:
- Architecture design documents and diagrams
- Providing technical insights into planning, risk management, and estimating
- Offering contributions to design reviews and assurance outputs
- Guiding delivery teams during implementation and deployment phases
- Regularly updating design packs aligned with client governance requirements
Dependencies & Assumptions
- Regular access to project teams, client architecture standards, and technical documentation
- Collaboration with security, data, and platform teams as necessary
Required Skills & Experience
General Skills
- Strong background in technology architecture
- Ability to understand modern platforms, integration approaches, and engineering best practices
- Experience translating requirements into well-structured architecture designs
- Confidence working with delivery teams and stakeholders
- Excellent documentation and architectural modeling skills
- Effective communication and problem-solving abilities
- Understanding of secure design principles and architectural governance

Core Technical Skills
- Extensive experience in Java development
- Expertise in the Spring Framework
- Experience with OAuth and authentication protocols
- Strong knowledge of server-side engineering and backend development
Platform & Infrastructure Skills
- Hands-on experience with Docker (containerisation)
- Familiarity with Kubernetes (container orchestration)
Domain Knowledge
- Understanding of IASS architecture
- Experience working in identity/access management or secure service environments (demonstrated via experience with OAuth & IASS)
Desirable Attributes
- Proficiency in designing scalable, distributed systems (implied from Kubernetes & backend knowledge)
