About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated Senior Java Developer to join our dynamic Agile development team at Alchemy. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of cloud-scale software components that support our digital preservation solutions. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for building scalable microservices, ensuring the seamless operation of our software systems, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Java development, experience with microservices architecture, and a passion for creating innovative solutions that drive the company's technological advancement.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in software development, specifically delivering solutions that meet complex business requirements.
  • Proficiency in Java and extensive experience with the Spring Framework.
  • Hands-on experience with microservices architecture and building scalable, resilient cloud applications.
  • Strong understanding of containerization tools such as Docker.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
  • Familiarity with Agile Scrum methodologies and collaborative team environments.
  • Knowledge of Linux/Unix command line operations.
  • Experience developing RESTful APIs using JAX-RS or Spring MVC.
  • Proficiency in automated testing tools such as Selenium, Cucumber, and RestAssured.
  • Experience working with front-end technologies, particularly Angular UI.
  • Knowledge of message brokers like Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, or other JMS systems.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing and implementing cloud-scale software components that align with business needs within an Agile Scrum environment.
  • Guide and mentor less experienced team members to foster a collaborative and productive team environment.
  • Develop and maintain scalable microservices, ensuring their robustness and efficiency.
  • Take ownership of the operational stability of software systems, troubleshooting issues promptly and implementing improvements.
  • Write clean, well-documented, and peer-reviewed code, emphasizing testability and maintainability.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers and QA teams to ensure software quality, functionality, and compliance with requirements.
  • Participate actively in all Scrum ceremonies, including planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives, to promote Agile best practices.
  • Contribute to continuous integration and deployment processes to streamline software delivery.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and incorporate best practices into development workflows.
