About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Java Developer (VP) to join our dynamic Markets Technology team at Citibank. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for leading a team of developers focused on delivering innovative solutions within the Foreign Exchange (FX) technology group, specifically supporting the Short-Term Interest Team (STIRT). Your expertise will be instrumental in building and enhancing electronic trading platforms, ensuring seamless integration with global markets operations, and driving strategic technical initiatives. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of financial technology, collaborating with front-office teams, and influencing the future of global finance. You will have the chance to lead complex projects from conception through deployment, mentor junior staff, and contribute to the strategic direction of our applications and systems.

The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in commercial Java development, with extensive experience supporting mission-critical applications. A strong understanding of distributed systems, middleware, and database technologies is essential. Knowledge of FX markets, including the entire pricing lifecycle, will be considered an advantage, along with familiarity with regulatory frameworks impacting the banking industry. Demonstrated leadership and stakeholder management skills are vital, as is experience in project management and team supervision. Candidates should have a solid understanding of DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployment. A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required, with a master's degree preferred. Candidates with experience working in large, collaborative environments and possessing excellent communication skills will excel in this role.
Responsibilities
As a Lead Java Developer, your responsibilities will include:
- Managing one or more application development teams to achieve project goals and ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Coordinating with stakeholders to understand requirements, communicate project progress, and promote team achievements.
- Providing technical oversight across multiple systems and reviewing proposed solutions.
- Analyzing and implementing solutions for technical issues, supporting incident management, and contributing to the strategic development of applications.
- Developing a comprehensive understanding of business processes, evaluating technical options, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
- Budget management, resource allocation, and day-to-day team leadership.
- Shaping the technical future of our products, defining standards, and ensuring risk management practices are followed to safeguard the firm's reputation and assets.
