About The Role
The Lead Java Developer (VP) role at Citibank offers an exciting opportunity to lead and influence the development of innovative financial technology solutions within a dynamic and fast-paced environment. As part of the Markets Technology division, specifically within the FX Technology group, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining mission-critical applications that support the bank’s global trading and risk management activities. Your expertise will help shape the future of electronic trading and enhance the firm’s competitive edge in the foreign exchange market. This leadership position involves managing development teams, collaborating with stakeholders across multiple locations, and contributing to strategic technical initiatives. Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in commercial Java development, with extensive experience supporting mission-critical applications. A strong understanding of distributed systems, middleware, and database technologies is essential. Knowledge of foreign exchange markets, pricing lifecycle, and regulatory environments impacting banking will be advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate leadership capabilities with experience managing teams and stakeholder relationships. A solid foundation in project management, industry standards, and DevOps practices such as CI/CD and cloud deployment is required. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary to articulate complex technical concepts effectively. Academic qualifications include a bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.

Responsibilities
- Oversee one or more Application Development teams, guiding them to achieve project goals while managing personnel responsibilities such as performance evaluations, hiring, and disciplinary actions.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of work items, providing regular updates on project progress, and promoting team achievements.
- Utilize technical expertise to review and analyze proposed solutions, ensuring they align with strategic objectives and technical standards.
- Implement solutions to identified issues, support incident management, and respond to support requests.
- Contribute to the development of application strategies, participate in budget management, and handle day-to-day staff management activities.
- Help shape the future technical direction of the products, ensuring compliance with risk management and regulatory requirements.
- Define and enforce standards, negotiate with external parties as necessary, and foster a culture of ethical conduct and accountability within your team.
