AVP Java Engineer up to £120k base + bonus

London

We're partnering with a global financial institution investing heavily in the next generation of its electronic trading technology. As the team continues to grow, they're looking for a Java Engineer to join a high-performing engineering group building low latency, business-critical systems used across global markets

This is the ideal role for a mid-level Java developer to take the next step in their career and move closer to the business.

This is an opportunity to work on complex, distributed systems where engineering quality, performance, and collaboration are genuinely valued. You'll join an established team with a strong technical culture and the chance to influence both architecture and technical direction.

The Role

You'll be responsible for designing, building, and enhancing core Java applications that support front-office trading workflows. Working closely with traders, quants, and fellow engineers, you'll deliver high-performance solutions while helping evolve the platform for future growth.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
