Java Developer (FX Trading) – Contract
Location: London (Hybrid – 2-3 office days/week)

About the Role & Opportunity
Working through the Deloitte Associate (Contractor) Programme gives flexibility across diverse projects while ensuring continuity if subsequent roles align with your expertise.
This position is for an **experienced **Java **developer with FX trading focus, placed within Deloitte’s Technology & Transformation Team to support a leading finite services client. The role combines high-performance Java server-side development with financial services knowledge, demanding strong communication, collaboration, and troubleshooting skills.
Essential Requirements
- Java Specialist (Backend Focus): Strong expertise in server-side Java development with experience in algorithmic or pricing systems.
- FX/Financial Services Background: Previous involvement in forex (FX) trading, pricing models, or algo-trading (broad asset classes acceptable).
- Full-Tech Stack Competency: Advanced knowledge of Java, Linux system administration and network optimisation.
- Collaborative Communication: Ability to interact with QS groups, trading desks, and senior tech leadership.
- SDLC Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Git (version control), Jenkins (CI/CD), and Ansible (automated deployments).
- Advanced Programming & Debugging: Deep understanding of algorithm, data structures, design patterns, and multi-threading.
- Production Support: 3rd-line support experience for live trading systems (incident resolution, stability checks).
- Education: Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or related analytics.
- Team Player: Demonstrated ability to work cohesively with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain scalable, high-performance server-side Java solutions for FX algorithmic platforms.
- Optimise Linux еёnetworks to ensure seamless data processing and system reliability.
- Provide 3rd-line production support, debugging and resolving critical issues in enterprise trading systems.
- Collaborate closely with Quantitative Strategies and trading teams to refine and implement traded requirements.
- Actively participate in the SDLC pipeline, from version control (Git) to deployment (Jenkins, Ansible).
- Translate complex technical concepts into actionable insights for stakeholders, including trading executives.
IR35 & Contract Compliance
To mitigate tax/compliance risks, all contractors must be deployed through a Deloitte-approved umbrella/employment company under PAYE arrangements. This role adheres to IR35 rules.
