Java Developer / Software Engineer – Fintech Product & Banking (Spring Boot, Claude/Codex)
About the Role
Our Fintech Challenger Bank client in Central London is seeking a Senior Java Software Engineer with hands-on experience in designing, architecting, and building fintech products, particularly in payment processing (not payment platforms).
You MUST have:
- Direct involvement in the design, architecture, and build of fintech products such as:
- Current Accounts
- Savings (Fixed Term Deposits, ISAs, Peer-to-Peer Lending, Mortgages, etc.)
- Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot
- Proficiency in AI tooling, specifically Claude or Codex AI
- Prior experience working in fintech payment domains
Minimum Qualifications for Consideration:
- MUST have payment product development experience (IFS, open banking, Direct Debits, Card Processing, etc.)
- Senior-level coder adept at architecture & design

Key Requirements
- Proven expertise in Java development with Spring Boot frameworks
- Hands-on experience with AI-powered tools (Claude, Codex, Agentic AI)
- Experience from a fintech startup or scale-up environment (challenger banks preferred)
- Strong preference for candidates with:
- ISA implementation or integration experience
- Fixed Term Deposit, Lending, or Savings product experience
- Experience contributing to high-payments volumes
- Ability to work technically self-sufficiently across design & development
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Build Savings & Payment products using Java/Spring Boot
- Integrate AI systems (Claude/Codex, Agentic AI) into financial workflows
- Collaborate on high-impact components of a fintech product
- Maintain a remote-first presence (3 days/week) with 2 days on-site in London

- All pieces of experience must be strongly fintech payment-focused
| Compensation | Rate: £600-£650/day + Benfits | Contract Type: 6 month initial contract outside IR35 |
