Java Engineer – Fintech (London)


Company Overview

Our client is a rapidly scaling fintech technology company pioneering next-generation data infrastructure for financial markets. They are building a high-performance data distribution platform to move, process, and deliver massive volumes of real-time financial data with unprecedented speed, scalability, and reliability.

The team seeks a talented Java Engineer to contribute to their high-performance data infrastructure. You will design and develop scalable backend systems to ingest, transform, process, and distribute massive data volumes in real time.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Building core platform components for reliable, high-performance data workflows.
  • Addressing complex engineering challenges in event-driven architectures, distributed systems, and cloud-native infrastructure.
  • Collaborating with engineers to create systems prioritising performance, resilience, and scalability.
  • Implementing modern best practices: automated testing, clean architecture, continuous delivery, and full ownership of production systems.

The role is ideal for an engineer passionate about backend platforms, with a desire to witness the direct business impact of their work in a high-growth fintech environment.


Key Requirements

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong commercial experience developing applications using Java (preferably Java 17+).
  • Deep understanding of/backend engineering principles and object-oriented design.
  • Proven ability building scalable, high-throughput distributed systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Kafka (or comparable event streaming technologies).
  • Experience designing and implementing ETL/data processing pipelines.
  • Proficient in APIs, data flows, and service-based architectures.
  • Confident working with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and modern deployment practices.
  • Strong preference for engineers who can write clean, maintainable, and well-tested Java code.
