About the Company

Our client is a world-class quantitative trading firm operating at the cutting edge of global electronic markets. Their proprietary technology powers fully automated trading strategies across multiple asset classes, where every microsecond matters and engineering excellence is a true competitive advantage.

The firm designs and builds ultra-low latency trading systems that process millions of market events every second, enabling trading decisions to be made in microseconds. With technology sitting at the heart of the business, engineers work alongside quantitative researchers and traders to continuously optimise performance, build next-generation execution platforms, and solve some of the most demanding engineering challenges in finance.

You'll be joining an exceptionally strong engineering team that values technical curiosity, innovation, and ownership. The environment is highly collaborative, free from unnecessary bureaucracy, and focused on giving engineers the autonomy to build best-in-class systems using modern technologies and industry-leading hardware.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

This is a rare opportunity to work on software where tiny improvements in performance can have a measurable financial impact, all while learning from some of the brightest engineers in the low latency space.

The Role

Our client is looking for an experienced Low Latency Java Developer to join their high-performance Execution Engineering team.

  • You'll be responsible for building and optimising the firm's ultra-low latency execution platform, developing software that interacts directly with global exchanges and delivers orders with the lowest possible latency.

Working on business-critical systems, you'll design and enhance high-performance Java applications that process live market data, make trading decisions, and execute orders in microseconds. You'll collaborate closely with quantitative traders, researchers, and infrastructure engineers to continually improve execution speed, system resilience, and trading performance.

This role offers the opportunity to work with advanced performance engineering techniques including JVM tuning, lock-free programming, off-heap memory, network optimisation, kernel bypass technologies, and hardware acceleration.
