Java Lead Software Engineer
Lead Software Engineer – CIB – Markets Technology, JPMorgan Chase
As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the CIB – Markets Technology team, you'll contribute to an agile environment focused on delivering trusted, market-leading technology solutions. Your role involves enhancing, building, and scaling secure, stable, and high-performance software systems that support the firm's global business objectives.
Core Responsibilities

Solution Design & Development
- Execute creative software solutions, including system design, development, and technical troubleshooting
- Think beyond standard approaches to break down complex technical problems and deliver scalable solutions

Code Quality & Review
- Develop secure, high-quality production code
- Review, debug, and refactor code written by team members

AI-Assisted Engineering Advocacy
- Drive adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices (e.g., AI-assisted code review, refactoring, test acceleration, incident analysis)
- Establish validation standards (secure coding, peer review, automated testing) and promote best practices across the team

SDLC & Automation Optimization
- Leverage tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including AI-assisted automation, to enhance development efficiency and reliability
- Identify automation opportunities for recurring issues to improve operational stability and resiliency

Vendor & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Lead vendor evaluation sessions to assess architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for integration within existing systems
- Engage with startups and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented solutions

Required Qualifications, Capabilities & Skills

Education & Experience
- Formal training or certification in software engineering
- Advanced applied experience in system design, application development, testing, and ensuring operational stability

Technical Proficiency
- Advanced proficiency in one+ programming languages (e.g., Java)
- Proficient in the SDLC with deep expertise in Agile methodologies (CI/CD, application resiliency, security best practices)
- Practical cloud-native experience at scale
- In-depth knowledge of financial services industry IT systems

AI & Responsible Technology
- Demonstrated experience leading AI-assisted development tools (coding, code review, testing, troubleshooting)
- Ability to set team validation standards for AI outputs (accuracy, performance, security compliance)
- Strong understanding of responsible AI practices, including data sensitivity, secure handling, resiliency, and compliance
