Senior Java Engineer – Financial Services Consulting | London
We're working with a leading financial services consultancy looking for a senior Java engineer to help shape architecture on complex, enterprise-scale systems as part of a growing engineering practice.
You'll join client-facing projects across financial services, building cloud-native backend systems and playing a key role in architecture decisions.
What you'll be doing:
- Build high-performance, distributed backend systems using modern Java and Spring Boot
- Lead service design and API development with a focus on robustness and maintainability
- Own deployment on AWS end-to-end, with automation baked in
- Contribute early and often to architecture discussions
- Define testing strategies that teams can genuinely trust
- Work closely with client stakeholders and engineering teams in agile settings

What you'll bring:
- Strong, proven experience with modern Java and Spring Boot at scale
- Comfort with event-driven architecture, distributed systems, and integration patterns
- Hands-on AWS experience and solid cloud infrastructure practices
- Familiarity with message streaming technologies
- Good judgement across relational and non-relational data stores
- A collaborative approach to solving complex technical problems
