About the Role

We are looking for a Software Engineer II to join our team at Booking.com. In this role, you will own the execution of technical solutions across a suite of 20 services, helping us deliver a steady roadmap of 3–4 service enhancements per quarter.
You will focus on high-quality, high-speed backend delivery, building new product features, and implementing crucial service-to-service communication. This role is ideal for a developer who writes clean, testable code and thrives in a high-volume, continuous delivery environment.

What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)

  • Deliver Backend Solutions: Write, refactor, and own clean, reusable Java code across multiple services.
  • End-to-End Ownership: Manage services from development through deployment, including monitoring application health and performance in AWS.
  • Database Migration & Scaling: Work on high-volume databases, assisting with batch migrations and optimizing data performance.
  • Incident Management: Support live production systems during office hours, resolving issues quickly to maintain system reliability.
  • Collaborate & Communicate: Work closely with Product Owners and cross-functional teams to design scalable technical solutions.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
