I am partnered with a specialty Millwork contractor who has embarked on a rapid growth trajectory doubling their size in the past 2 years. Focused within high-end commercial interiors, luxury residential projects, hospitality environments, custom casework, panel systems, wall cladding, reception desks, fixture packages, and specialty fabrication this firm has carved a niche for very high-end work throughout the five boroughs and deep into Long Island.
Your new role
As a Job Captain specializing within the millwork trade the successful candidate can expect the following on any given day:
- Play a key role in managing project documentation, coordinating with consultants, and ensuring design intent is executed efficiently
- Oversee drawing production, review technical details, and support project teams throughout the design and construction process
- Supervise and coordinate the drafting subcontractor to produce submittal and production drawings accurate to the scope of work
- Record meeting minutes for Design and Engineering use, flagging items requiring development, clarification, or changes
- Identify long lead-time items and prioritize drawings accordingly
- Document missing information or pending changes and coordinating with Project Management to initiate RFIs
- Confirm required design development or changes with the Director of Engineering and provide sketches and supporting documentation to the drafting subcontractor
- Coordinate details and resolve questions from the drafting subcontractor through submittal and production phases
- Certify revised shop drawings reflect architect redlines, field surveys, and coordinating documents
- Prepare supplemental sketches and provide coordinating information to guide revisions
- Direct the draftsman through revisions until drawings are approved and good-to-go for MV, Cab Vision, and Listing processing
- Document impediments preventing progress, including missing field dimensions, specifications, details, or clarifications
- Resolve technical questions from drafting, engineering, or installation teams

- Experience coordinating shop drawings in a millwork, woodworking, or construction environment
- Strong understanding of fabrication requirements and production workflows
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, engineering, and fabrication drawings
- Clear and timely communication with internal teams and external drafting partners
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and related drafting coordination tools preferred
