Canfield Carpentry Ltd is a specialist new-build carpentry contractor and timber frame erecting company based in Sstansted Mountfitchet, Essex. Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site position based in Sansted Mountfitchet with Canfield Carpentry Ltd.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out day-to-day carpentry tasks on new-build and timber frame projects, including:
- First and second fix carpentry
- Installing timber frames
- Fitting doors and windows
- Completing internal and external finishes to specification
- Interpret drawings and plans, measure and cut materials accurately
- Ensure all work complies with safety, quality, and building regulation standards
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
- Use tools and equipment correctly
- Coordinate with site managers, contractors, and other trades to keep projects on schedule
- Assist with problem-solving on-site
- Support less experienced team members
- Complete necessary documentation or site reports, as required

Requirements
Essential
- Strong practical carpentry skills, covering:
- First fix
- Second fix
- Finishing work on new-build projects
- Experience working with timber frame structures, including:
- Accurate measuring
- Cutting
- Installation
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, plans, and specifications
- Good understanding of site health and safety practices, including safe use of:
- Hand tools
- Power tools
- Proven experience in the construction or housebuilding industry, ideally with new-build developments
- Strong attention to detail, quality focus, and ability to meet deadlines
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to:
- Work on-site in varying weather conditions
- Adhere to company standards and procedures

Preferred
- Relevant qualification or apprenticeship in carpentry (e.g., NVQ or equivalent)
- Valid CSCS card
- Full UK driving licence
