Job Description
What is Project Selborne?
Selborne, part of Capita’s Public Service division, is a Capita-led project, with world class, hi-tech partners involved including Fujitsu, Raytheon UK, and the University of Lincoln. Together, we’re delivering a new, modernised shore-based training programme for the Royal Navy and Royal Marines. Known collectively as Team Fisher, we’re focused on modernising teaching and learning. That means investing in and developing our educators so that they can train the Royal Navy’s people in the best way.
What kind of work do we do?
We’re using technology to offer immersive experiences of real-life situations and develop better expectations of life on the front line. And we’re building modern apprenticeships, reviewing course content and creating a better culture around training. We’re also currently working on delivering a modernised centre of learning for submariners, with the Royal Navy Submarine Training Centre, that’s due to be completed in 2025. Ultimately, as part of this team, you’ll be helping to build the future workforce of the Royal Navy

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
