Jointer

We are looking for a permanent Jointer to join Utility Solutions team based at Derby with regular travel.

Salary - £40,208

E.ON UK operates one of the largest Street Lighting Contracting businesses in the UK with a large presence in the East and West Midlands as well as the North West of England. We have four Street Lighting PFI's and work for most local authorities in the areas we operate in. As a leading Independent Connections Provider (ICP), we deliver connection and jointing services for many of the UK’s top housing developers. We also hold agreements to work on both Distribution Network Operator (DNO) and Independent Distribution Network Operator (IDNO) networks across the UK.

As a Jointer, you'll have the ability to supervise multi skilled teams, conversant with all aspects of Highways Lighting and able to carry out all connections onto distribution and private networks associated with DNO and IDNO unmetered supplies. Complex testing of private networks. You'll also need to have experience of and authorisations in DNO/IDNO networks, fully competent on plastic & PILC connections.

You'll also have a key understanding and practice within HSSE, ensuring that training sessions are attended, and all work is completed in a safe manner and in accordance with the Company's Health, Safety, Environment and Quality policies and procedures.

Main Responsibilities

  • Carry out mains and service cable jointing on electrical distribution networks DNO and iDNO.
  • Immediate supervision of Jointers Mates.
  • Providing personal supervision and training of Apprentices.
  • Driving general and specialist vehicles appropriate to the role.
  • Hold relevant DNO/IDNO authorisations to work on 3PH distribution networks.
  • Ensure personnel under control fully understand and adhere to their job requirements.
  • Taking full ownership for personal health and safety responsibilities and that of the team ensuring PPE is always worn.
  • The ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team.
  • The ability to always take a confident but diplomatic approach to customers.
  • Carry out risk assessments and maintain safe working practices.

What we need from you

  • Recognised Electrical Apprenticeship or Street lighting and LV services training programme.
  • C&G 236 pt 1 and pt 2 or equivalent with extensive & proven relevant trade experience.
  • 18th edition BS7671 wiring regs qualification.
  • Previous Full G39 qualification.
  • Current NRSWA Accreditation.
  • Electrical knowledge to C & G 236 Parts 1 & 2 /2330 Level 1 & 2 or equivalent with extensive and proven relevant trade experience.
  • Current First Aid and Manual Handling certificates.
  • Relevant authorisation to carry out 3PH UG connections to DNO/IDNO networks.
  • Understanding operational and 1:500 electrical network diagrams.
  • CSCS accreditation.
  • A current full driving licence.
