Position Overview
The Carpenter will be responsible for performing carpentry work on a variety of construction projects, primarily focused on concrete foundations, walls, and occasional flatwork. The ideal candidate will have experience with both handset and gang form systems, as well as a strong understanding of general carpentry techniques for construction. James S. Jackson Company self-performs Concrete Steel Erection and General Trades. Experience in all areas is preferred. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who can work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities
- Construct, install, and repair structures, such as foundations, walls, pre-engineered metal buildings, doors, and miscellaneous specialties, according to blueprints and project specifications.
- Handset and gang form systems for concrete walls and foundations.
- Assist with concrete placement and finishing as needed.
- Measure, cut, and shape wood, metal, and other materials for the construction of forms and structural elements.
- Maintain and care for tools, equipment, and materials to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
- Collaborate with other trades and site personnel to ensure project milestones are met.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, building codes, and quality standards.
- Perform other carpentry duties as required.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a carpenter, preferably in a commercial or industrial construction environment.
- Strong background in concrete formwork, including handset and gang form systems.
- Knowledge of construction and carpentry techniques, including reading and interpreting blueprints and plans.
- Ability to operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and physically demanding environments.
- OSHA certification or ability to obtain upon hiring is a plus.

Preferred Skills
- Experience with concrete foundations, walls, and flatwork.
- Experience working with steel erection and other general trades.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy materials and equipment.
- Ability to stand, kneel, squat, and bend for extended periods.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.
