Job Title: Junior Accountant – European Finance Team
Location: On-site at Molecular Devices, Winnersh (Wokingham, UK) Reports to: European Financial Controller Industry: Life Sciences | Diagnostics | Biotechnology
About the European Finance Team
You will work closely with the shared services team, supporting the financial accounting of all European legal entities while ensuring compliance with UK GAAP and US GAAP regulations across both statutory and management accounting.

Key Responsibilities
Monthly & Quarterly Management Reporting
- Collaborate with shared services, the UK-based European Finance team, and the US Corporate team to oversee month-end, quarter-end, and annual reporting cycles.
- Perform weekly bank reconciliations, resolve accounts payable and receivable postings and queries.
- Execute journal postings, accruals, prepayments, and cost centre reviews within tight deadlines.
Statutory Accounts & Tax Reporting
- Assist in preparing annual statutory accounts in compliance with local GAAP.
- Support accurate VAT, corporate income tax, and withholding tax filings, providing necessary calculations and reports.
Control & Compliance
- Support balance sheet reconciliations and create standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Provide audit evidence and support, contributing to a rigorous control environment aligned with US-driven compliance standards.
Process Improvement
- Assist in ad-hoc finance activities, ensuring adequate coverage during key periods.
- Participate in a culture of continuous improvement, collaborating with finance and business teams to optimize processes and operational efficiency.
Essential Requirements
- Part-qualified or fully qualified in Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) or equivalent qualification.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently—essential for fast-paced accounting teams.
- Exceptional attention to detail with an emphasis on accuracy in data entry, record-keeping, and financial reporting.
- Experience working in a high-volume accounting environment, particularly within international finance teams.
- Clear communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders internally and externally effectively.
- Advanced proficiency in financial systems (preference for Oracle financials, but training may be provided).
- Strong Excel proficiency (pivot tables, advanced formulas, and data analysis).
