About This Role
Junior AI Engineer
The Digital & IT Team designs, builds, and operates Vodafone’s next-generation Digital & IT platform, including AI-enabled Software Development Life Cycles (AI-SDLC).
As a Junior AI Engineer, you’ll:
- Work in cross-functional squads to apply AI tools for faster system analysis, specification formulation, and software delivery.
- Transform business requirements and platform assets into structured, reusable engineering artefacts.
- Ensure accurate, secure, and aligned AI-generated outputs, supporting responsible AI use in software engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- AI-assisted development workflows:
- Analyse existing systems to extract business logic, integrations, and reusable capabilities.
- Generate structured engineering artefacts (specifications, acceptance criteria, user stories) aligned with platform architecture.
- Translate business requirements into implementation-ready artefacts.
- Create test scenarios and validation artefacts from specifications.

AI validation & governance:
- Validate AI-generated templates (specifications, code suggestions, test scenarios) for accuracy, security, and compliance with Vodafone standards.
- Identify risks like hallucinated requirements, incomplete logic, or misalignments between intent and delivery.

Collaborative agile delivery:
- Support thin-slice, incremental delivery with traceability between requirements, specs, and implementation.
- Assist in service/API/platform component implementation, validating AI outputs.
- Participate in agile ceremonies (refinement, planning, stand-ups, retrospectives).
- Contribute to improving AI-SDLC practices across squads.
What You’ll Do
- Use AI tools to analyse **codebases, logic, and UML diagrams**, identifying integration patterns.
- Create **specifications and user stories** from platform architecture.
- Develop **test scenarios and validation artefacts** derived from requirements.
- Translate **business needs** into technical artefacts (API specs, CI/CD pipelines).
- Collaborate with **developers, architects, and product teams** on design and implementation.
- Validate AI outputs for **correctness, security, and compliance**—ensuring no contradicts business intent.
- Apply **responsible AI governance** (traceability, risk mitigation):

- Embed incremental delivery:

## **Requirements**
### **Your Skillset**
You’re the ideal candidate if you have:
- **Programming experience** (Java, Python, JavaScript, or similar).
- **API/web services/integration basics** (REST, gRPC, microservices).
- **Git & CI/CD fundamentals** (CI/CD pipelines, version control).
- **Awareness of AI/ML tools** in dev workflows (e.g., GitHub Copilot, autocomplete code assistants).
- Exposure to **cloud-native concepts** (microservices, containers, serverless).
- **Curiosity in AI ethics governance**—preferably with mentorship or validation experience.
