Junior AI & Automation Analyst

Department: Operations
Reporting To: Richard Darbon
Location: London, United Kingdom
Hybrid Working: 3 days in your local office
Full-time | Fixed Term Contract (3 Months)

The Role

The Junior AI & Automation Analyst is an entry-level role supporting innovation at scale across Operations at Kobalt. This is a 3-month fixed-term opportunity designed to provide hands-on experience in AI, automation, and operational improvement while supporting the team in reviewing bottlenecks in complex workflows and learning how to deploy practical AI-driven solutions.

In this role, you will begin to bridge the gap between emerging AI technologies and our day-to-day operations. Under the guidance across the team, you will use your logical mindset to support the wider operations innovation strategy by helping to test intelligent workflows, connect systems, and enhance processes across operations.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to start their career at the intersection of technology, operations, and the music industry while gaining practical experience with AI, automation, and process improvement.

What You'll Do

  • Support the research, testing, and piloting of new AI tools, platforms, and models.
  • Assist the team in mapping and building automated workflows to reduce manual, data-intensive tasks.
  • Help support the use of integration platforms and internal tools to connect systems and improve operational efficiency.
  • Assist teams in utilizing AI-assisted tools to accelerate the creation of agentic and repeatable business-focused solutions.
  • Support the documentation of workflows and automations to ensure reliability and consistency across operations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to understand operational challenges and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Work with a variety of teams to learn how the music industry ecosystem operates and how innovation supports creators and rights holders.
  • Actively participate in training and development opportunities to build your knowledge of AI, automation, and workflow optimisation.

What You'll Bring

Preferred:

  • A natural inclination to break down multi-step problems into logical workflows and enjoy understanding how things work.
  • Highly comfortable learning new software and tools quickly.
  • An interest in AI technologies and eager to learn how they can be applied to real-world business challenges.
  • Basic data handling skills and understand the importance of maintaining clear and accurate documentation.
  • Enjoy working collaboratively within a team environment and are comfortable asking questions and learning from others.
  • Strong attention to detail and take a conscientious approach to testing and accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and can explain ideas clearly to a variety of audiences.

Additional Skills That Could Add Value:

  • Exposure to SQL, Python, or other technical tools through education, personal projects, or internships.
  • Experience experimenting with AI tools, Large Language Models (LLMs), or workflow automation platforms.
  • An interest in technology, innovation, and operational excellence.
  • Experience working on university, personal, or professional projects involving process improvement, data analysis, or technology.

By Month 1: Building Foundations

  • You'll have developed a strong understanding of Kobalt's operations, systems, and workflows.
  • You'll be actively supporting research, testing, and documentation activities while building confidence using AI tools and automation platforms under the guidance of the wider team.

By Month 2: Contributing to Automation Initiatives

  • You'll be supporting workflow mapping, testing automation solutions, and assisting with operational improvement projects.
  • You'll have developed a solid understanding of how AI and automation can be applied to business challenges and be contributing meaningful ideas and insights.

By Month 3: Delivering Impact

  • You'll have successfully contributed to AI and automation initiatives, supported the delivery of operational improvements, and developed a strong foundation in workflow optimisation, automation, and emerging technologies.
  • You'll leave the programme with practical experience applying AI to real business challenges within a global music company.
