JUNIOR ANALYST - POSTGRADUATE YEAR PLACEMENT
Junior Analyst – Postgraduate Placement Year (10-12 Month)
Postgraduate Placement (Temporary) – September 2026 to Summer 2027
Salary & Location
- Salary: Competitive
- Working Arrangement: Hybrid – predominantly home-based with 1 day per week at our Leeds office
- Start Date: August/September 2026
- Duration: Until Summer 2027 (10–12 months)
About the Role
You’ll be joining the predictive modelling and analytics team at Jaywing, a data science consultancy within Stubben Edge Group. We support financial institutions, retailers, and public sector organisations in optimising their credit risk models, marketing strategies, and capital management.

Role Purpose
As a Junior Analyst, you’ll start by assisting senior analysts on a major client project. By the end of your placement, you should have:
- Technical Expertise:
- Experience in handling large datasets to measure credit risk
- Introduction to credit scoring, risk modelling techniques, IFRS9 compliance, and IRB capital requirements
- Development of Practical analytical skills for consulting work

Skills Required
Candidate must:
- be pursuing a postgraduate degree in:
- Mathematics &/or Statistics
- Economics (Quantitative preference)
- Data Science, Computer Science, Big Data Analytics
- Finance & Banking-based analytics programs
- have strong programming skills in Python, R, SAS, or SQL
- demonstrate analytical thinking and attention to detail
- be curious, flexible, and proactive – able to take on diverse tasks
- communicate clearly and concisely (written & verbal)
- manage workloads efficiently and provide regular updates
Bonus Experience (Not Mandatory)
- Experience with: Excel, Power BI, Tableau, Google Analytics, Google Sheets, SQL
- Previously worked? – Previous internships, work placements, or full-time roles preferred
Eligibility Criteria
- Currently studying:
- A Postgraduate degree (MSc) with placement year
- One of the approved subject fields listed above
- Right to work in the UK
- Access to accommodation in/near Leeds
- Bachelor’s degree in numerate field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Economics

- Tackle tasks such as data extraction, summarization, coding, and commentary
- Contribute to long-term model reviews, credit analytics & capital project work
- Full support provided by project leads & colleagues at all stages
