Role Description

The Junior Basketball Coach is a voluntary role based in Halifax/Bradford, focused on developing young players within the Yorkshire Dragons junior program. Responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering age-appropriate training sessions
  • Teaching basketball fundamentals
  • Supporting individual skill development
  • Supervising practices and games
  • Ensuring a safe and inclusive environment
  • Promoting positive attitudes, teamwork, and sportsmanship

Experience

  • A foundation in Basketball and Basketball Coaching, with experience working with junior or youth players.
  • General Coaching and Training skills, including session planning, player development, and performance feedback.
  • Relevant coaching certifications or badges in basketball (or willingness to obtain them).
  • Ability to create an inclusive, supportive, and safe training environment for players of varied abilities.
