Junior Business Development/Account Manager
Location: Clitheroe/Barrowford
Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 DOE + Bonus Scheme
Contract: Full Time, Permanent
About the Opportunity
Our client is a growing engineering business operating within the water, infrastructure and utilities sector. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Junior Business Development & Account Manager to support the sales function, manage client enquiries, prepare quotations and assist with the development of new and existing customer relationships.
This role would suit an ambitious individual looking to develop a career within technical sales, account management or business development. The client is open to candidates from a sales, internal sales, estimating, customer service or project coordination background who possess strong commercial awareness and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
- Support the Business Development Manager with client engagement and sales activities.
- Build relationships with new and existing customers.
- Follow-up quotations and sales enquiries via phone and email.
- Identify opportunities to generate new business and increase revenue.
- Manage and develop customer accounts to maximise commercial opportunities.
Tendering & Quotation Management
- Review incoming tender and quotation requests.
- Liaise with clients to gather project information and clarify requirements.
- Prepare detailed costings and quotations for projects ranging up to £2 million.
- Review technical drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
- Obtain pricing from subcontractors and supply chain partners.
- Produce accurate, commercially viable quotations for client submission.

Account Management & Customer Service
- Act as a key point of contact for customers throughout the sales process.
- Maintain regular communication with clients to ensure excellent service levels.
- Develop long-term customer relationships and identify future opportunities.
- Support project handovers where required.
Sales Administration & CRM
- Use the company CRM system to log, track and update enquiries.
- Maintain accurate records of quotations, projects and customer interactions.
- Produce reports and updates on sales activity and pipeline progression.
- Handle incoming enquiries and direct calls to relevant departments when required.
Person Specification
Experience
- Previous experience within Sales, Internal Sales, Business Development, Account Management, Customer Service or Estimating.
- Experience working within engineering, construction, manufacturing, utilities or technical environments would be advantageous but not essential.
- Experience using CRM systems is desirable.
Skills & Attributes
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Commercially aware with good numerical skills.
- Ability to self-manage and prioritise workload.
- Confident communicating with customers, suppliers and internal teams.
- Team player with a proactive and positive approach.
- Good organisational and administration skills.
- Comfortable working with Microsoft Office, email and internet-based systems.
- General understanding of IT security and data handling.

The ideal candidate will be an ambitious sales or account management professional looking to take the next step in their career. They may currently be working as an Internal Sales Executive, Sales Coordinator, Account Executive, Customer Account Manager, Estimator, Commercial Administrator or Business Development Executive, and be keen to develop further within a technical engineering environment.
