Job Title: Junior Business Analyst – Energy

  • Position: Full-time, Junior Business Analyst (Business Analysis – Energy sector)
  • Hours: 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM (Mon–Fri)
  • Location: Colindale, North London (hybrid working)
  • Closing Date: Mon 26th June 2026

About the Role

Are you a detail-oriented problem solver eager to launch your career in Business Analysis within energy and technology?

We’re looking for an ambitious, tenacious junior BA ready to unpack complex challenges. No need for all the answers just yet—proving your drive to find solutions is key.


Key Responsibilities

Core Tasks

  • Requirement Support:

    • Assist in gathering and documenting business requirements for energy industry updates/transitions.
  • Process Mapping:

    • Create "As-Is" and "To-Be" operational process flows to identify inefficiencies.
    • Help teams refine processes for greater efficiency.
  • Data Exploration:

    • Analyse data flows across the industry to ensure technical solutions align with market standards.
  • Documentation:

    • Develop and maintain clear project documentation, including:
      • User stories.
      • Functional specifications.
  • Testing & Quality:

    • Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by defining basic acceptance criteria.
    • Validate that solutions function effectively for end-users.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Collaborate with subject matter experts to gather insights and provide progress updates.

Minimum Requirements (Read Carefully)

To be considered, you must meet these, ideally:

Technical & Analytical Skills

  • Foundational Analytical Proficiency:
    • Basic understanding of business analysis methodologies (e.g., familiarity with BPMN or process mapping).
    • Ambitious to develop expertise in:
      • Process optimisation.
      • Identifying operational gaps.
  • IT & Systems Literacy:
    • Strong interest in IT systems and their operations.
    • Comprehend the Software Delivery Life Cycle (SDLC), including design → build → test.
  • Curiosity & Tenacity:
    • Self-starter who persistently tackles problems—willing to experiment with solutions.

Communication Skills

  • Ability to simplify complex information for colleagues.
  • Comfortable asking clarifying questions and facilitating discussions.

Academic/Early Career Background

  • Ideally a degree in a relevant field (Business, IT, Engineering).
  • 1–2 years of professional experience (prioritise roles in consultancy or IT-focused environments).

Energy Sector Interest (Advantage)

  • No prior expertise required, but interest in:
    • UK energy landscape.
    • Net-zero technology (e.g., Smarter Settlements, Smart Meter data, Renewables).

The Commercial Energy team focuses on optimising financial outcomes for energy operations. You’d report to the Energy Programme Manager in a dynamic, consultancy-style environment.
