I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

This is a pivotal role in the company’s transition from an R&D house developing concepts and prototypes, to one of delivering high revenue growth through the sale of mature and effective products.

Responsibilities:

  • You will manage the full purchasing cycle, from raising purchase orders through to goods arriving on site, keeping a close eye on delivery schedules and chasing suppliers where needed to protect production timelines. When orders slip, you'll step in quickly to expedite, troubleshoot and find workarounds that keep disruption to a minimum.
  • Accuracy matters in this role. You'll be responsible for keeping the ERP system (CIM50 / Sage) up to date across purchasing records, costs and stock levels, ensuring the business always has reliable data to work from.
  • Supplier relationships will be a big part of your week. You'll be in regular contact on pricing, lead times and order progress, and you'll support wider sourcing activity by identifying alternative suppliers and gathering quotations when the situation calls for it.
  • This is a highly collaborative position. You'll work hand in hand with engineering, production and sales colleagues to make sure purchasing decisions reflect real operational priorities, and you'll be encouraged to bring ideas, whether that's introducing simple tracking tools to improve visibility of urgent requirements or finding smarter ways to cut delays.
