Junior Buyer

Plank Hardware — Product Team

Full-time · In-house · Reporting to the Head of Product

About the role

Plank Hardware is looking for a Junior Buyer to join our product team. This is a hands-on role covering the full development journey — from initial concept through briefing, costing, supplier management and sample tracking, right through to the product going live on site. You'll work closely with design, brand, marketing and logistics, and take ownership of pricing and range decisions along the way.

We're a fast-moving, detail-oriented team, and increasingly an AI-native one — you'll be expected to use tools like Claude and Cowork to work faster and smarter, not just to be comfortable with them.

Key Responsibilities

Product Development

  • Manage product developments end-to-end: concept → brief → costing → supplier comms → sample tracking → design sign-off → live on site
  • Research and develop newness, creating clear briefs for suppliers
  • Manage the critical path, ensuring products hit key dates to launch on time
  • Work closely with design, brand, marketing and logistics teams to ensure a smooth, joined-up launch process

Supplier & Sample Management

  • Manage multiple supplier relationships and day-to-day communications across materials and componentry
  • Organise and track samples from suppliers into the office, communicating with relevant teams on sample statuses.
  • Own supplier briefing documents, ensuring technical and brand specifications are communicated accurately
  • Coordinate monthly product photography shoots — organising samples and scheduling to ensure product is shoot-ready

Costing & Pricing

  • Gather and compare pricing across suppliers, presenting recommendations with clear reasoning on cost, quality and lead time
  • Work out retail prices against target margins, including landed cost and duty considerations where relevant
  • Build and maintain pricing workbooks that turn cost data into decision-ready recommendations
  • Conduct regular competitor analysis and comp shops, presenting reasoning behind recommended price points

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
