Junior Buyer - Fixed Term 15 Months

The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Junior Buyer to join our Purchasing team on a temporary basis to cover maternity leave. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in procurement within a supportive team environment.

Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, you will work closely with experienced Buyers and support the day-to-day purchasing activities that ensure materials are delivered on time to meet business needs.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Supporting the team in running daily MRP reports and raising purchase orders
  • Assisting with the management of purchase requisitions, supplier quotations, and order tracking
  • Monitoring stock levels and highlighting potential shortages to senior team members
  • Helping to track deliveries and update internal systems with order status
  • Supporting the coordination of materials for production and engineering teams
  • Assisting with basic supplier communication (e.g. Order confirmations, delivery updates)
  • Maintaining accurate data within procurement systems (ERP/MRP)
  • Supporting the preparation of supplier performance reports
  • Assisting with administrative tasks such as updating supplier records and quote tables
  • Working with internal teams (e.g. Engineering, QA) to help resolve basic supply issues
  • Providing general support to Buyers and Strategic Sourcing Managers as required

About You

  • Some experience or exposure to purchasing, supply chain, or logistics (placement, internship, or entry-level role)
  • A basic understanding of MRP/ERP systems (training will be provided)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Eagerness to learn and develop within a procurement environment
  • Ability to manage tasks and meet deadlines with guidance from the team
