Junior Clerk - Chambers Team

We are looking to recruit a Junior Clerk to join our established clerking team, supporting the smooth delivery of chambers operations across our national practice.
This role is hybrid, with flexible options for office and home working, and would be based at our Manchester office.
As a Junior Clerk, you will play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operations of DWF Chambers. Collaborating closely with the Senior Clerk and clerking team, your responsibility will be to optimise barristers’ diaries, manage bookings and listings, and assist with client interactions.
This is an exciting opportunity for an organised individual who is proactive and eager to pursue a career as a Barristers Clerk. You will gain exposure to a diverse range of clerking tasks and develop robust commercial and operational skills in a supportive, team-driven environment.

Responsibilities
- Maintain and organise barristers’ diaries, including scheduling hearings, appointments, and managing court listings.
- Respond professionally and promptly to queries from clients and solicitors.
- Agree fees with clients and process billing through internal systems.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with solicitors and legal professionals.
- Support business development activity, including attending networking events.
- Work collaboratively with the clerking team while also executing tasks independently.
What will help you succeed in this role?
Essential:
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Outstanding communication skills, both in written and verbal formats.
- Keen attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in work.
- Good confidence in IT skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and databases.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Desirable:
- Previous experience in a clerking role or a similar administrative/coordination position.
- Familiarity with legal processes, chambers environments, or court listings.
- Experience using LEX or similar case/practice management systems.
