Job Summary
This is a non-training post equivalent to FY2 level
This is a 12-month post in the Department of Paediatric Plastic, Hand and Reconstructive Surgery at Birmingham Women's and Children's Hospital. Birmingham Children's Hospital is a specialist tertiary referral centre treating paediatric patients with plastic surgical problems from across the West Midlands and beyond. It provides an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to general and specialist paediatric plastic surgery. The post holder will get broad experience of congenital hand surgery, vascular anomalies, surgery for cleft lip and/or palate and facial palsy including corneal re-innervation as well as all aspects of burn care in children.
Main Duties of the Job
- There is an opportunity for a Fellow post (FY2 level) in Plastic Surgery (non-training) for a period of 12 months.
- The successful candidate will support the middle grade rota as well as Hospital at night rota for the surgery division.
- Although this is officially a non-training post, the post will not be extended beyond 12 months to allow other candidates to learn and experience the service.
- This post will be suitable for a person who wishes to get hands-on experience in Paediatric Plastic Surgery.
- There is adequate support from the middle grade doctors and consultants with regular teaching.

Parkview Clinic is a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service Mental Health (CAMHS) facility in Moseley, for young people aged 11-18 years who require admission due to significant psychiatric difficulties.

- Medical Degree from a recognised University
- A minimum of 2 years full-time post-graduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time basis) or equivalent experience and competencies.
- Evidence of progress in Plastic Surgery Training or equivalent Programme to successful completion of the programme, or having passed exit examination in Plastic Surgery at the time of taking up the post, or equivalent.
- Previous experience in Hand Surgery

- Other Educational Qualification (ALS/APLS/ATLS)

- Full GMC registration
- Evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies in line with GMC standards/Good Medical Practice
- Eligibility to live and work in the UK
