Main duties of the job
There is an opportunity for a Junior Clinical Fellow to join our fantastic team of emergency department clinicians at UHS starting in August 2026. This post will offer a broad range of experience in emergency medicine in a busy ED and Major Trauma Centre.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven new colleague, with experience of working in emergency medicine, to work alongside our team of resident doctors, SAS doctors, Consultants, Advanced Clinical Practitioners and ENPS providing care in the ED throughout the 24-hour period.
This role will split your time 75% clinical (on the core resident rota) with 25% of your time allocated to complete projects and undertake additional training in one of five bespoke fellowships with a special interest in Major Trauma, Education, Quality Improvement, Toxicology or Ultrasound.
You will have access to additional funding to complete training and academic courses leading to qualifications, such as a PGCert, related to your fellowship.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
