Clinical Fellow in General Adult Psychiatry – Lewis Ward (Male Acute Inpatient)
South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM)
SLaM is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic resident doctor with experience and passion for General Adult Psychiatry to join our 18-bed acute male inpatient ward at Maudsley Hospital – Lewis Ward in South London.
This is a full-time, fixed-term contract for 12 months, renewable subject to performance and staffing needs. Successful candidates will have opportunities to explore further roles within SLaM after their initial residency.
If you are interested in a front-line clinical role with scope for service development and quality improvement projects (QI), this position is ideal for you.
About the Role
- Report to a Consultant Psychiatrist, working alongside a Specialty Doctor and another SHO-level resident doctor, under the supervision and support of a fully integrated multidisciplinary team (MDT).
- Open to doctors taking a break from training or those completing their Foundation Programme, provided they have prior experience in UK healthcare settings.
- Essential qualification: Completion of Foundation training and experience in UK healthcare.

Working Hours:
- 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday.
- This post will not participate in Southwark resident on-call duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Day-to-day assessment and management of patients admitted with acute and severe mental illness, including:
- Informal and Mental Health Act (MHA) assessments.
- Formulation and treatment planning.
