Commercial Analyst
About the Role
Support the Finance and Product teams by providing clear insights into commercial gross performance and supplier performance, helping to improve profitability. The role focuses on gaining visibility into performance drivers, ensuring accurate tracking of commercial income, mitigating risks, and securing cash flow.
In addition, this role will support project-based work across the product function, offering analysis, insights, and financial input to drive key business initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure a thorough understanding and provide regular margin performance analysis, including sales variances, promotional expenditure, and margin investments.
- Monitor and guarantee the accuracy of commercial income reporting.
- Ensure supplier invoicing is raised in a timely and accurate manner.
- Collaborate with the Commercial Finance Manager to provide periodic performance updates for the product team.
- Analyse variances in key income streams and suppplier performance, identifying risks and opportunities.
- Evaluate supplier terms agreements to optimise financial outcomes.
- Support project-based work as required.
- Assist the wider finance team in ensuring robust controls on processes.
- Execute any reasonably required duties to fulfil responsibilities effectively.

Key Requirements
Technical & Professional Skills
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify risks and opportunities, delivering accurate commercial insights.
- Strong understanding of:
- Margin performance
- Commercial income
- Supplier terms agreements
- Experience in managing financial reporting or related financial support tasks.
- Ability to support and influence strategic decision-making.
- Commitment to high standards of documentation, compliance, and governance (including GSCOP and audit requirements).
Software/Technical Competency
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (particularly advanced functions).
- Experience using SAP, Business Objects, and TM1 would be advantageous.
