Junior Consulting Project Manager (Defence and Security)

Technology Strategy Analyst / Project Manager – Advisory Team

Do emerging technologies and trends excite you? Are you interested in distinguishing between technologies that change the world and those that seem promising but rarely materialise? Are you fascinated by how deep tech could impact Defence and Security? Do you possess a curious, analytical mindset to tackle complex projects and translate them into real-world insights?

If so, this role could be perfect for you!

Who We Are

You will join the Advisory team at Cambridge Consultants, a core function providing strategic guidance at the intersection of technology, product innovation, and commercial challenges. This team delivers projects primarily to clients in Defence and Security, as well as Industrial, Energy, and Sustainability sectors.

Your work involves ensuring tailored technical and commercial viability for clients aiming to transform their industries using cutting-edge technology. Success is measured by high-quality, technically robust yet commercially actionable insights, addressing emerging tech implications and informing strategic decisions.

Key contributions include:

  • Horizon scanning
  • Strategic foresight
  • Technology road-mapping
  • Competitor analysis
  • Investment case development
  • Market insights

The Advisory team bridges technical innovation with real-world application, helping clients understand how emerging technologies can be operationalised within their business models. Collaborative technologies such as quantum sensing and computing, robotics, physical AI, novel materials, and engineering biology are just some of the areas where your work will have impact.

The Role

As a Technology Strategy Analyst / Project Manager in our Advisory team, you’ll play a dynamic hybrid role concentrated on delivering client engagements while generating actionable insights. This includes end-to-end project leadership and hands-on analytical work to drive client value.

The role sits within Research & Insights, focusing on understanding the near- and long-term future impacts on strategies. While the emphasis is on Defence and Security, project demands may extend to other sectors.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
