Reports to: Data Analyst

Purpose of the role:

The Junior Data Analyst responsibilities involve providing business insight through the analysis of complex data sets and the creation and maintenance of reports. They work closely with the various departments in the business, answering queries from managers and supervisors in order to enable better decision making.

Responsibilities:

  • Creation of reporting packages and data models in Excel, Power Query, PowerPivot, and Power BI to create meaningful insights from raw data as requested by and in collaboration with various departments.
  • Creating dashboards and visual reports to develop greater insight into business performance and processes.
  • Maintenance, enhancement, and streamlining of current reporting packages.
  • Liaising with department managers and supervisors to determine reporting requirements and to provide insights.
  • Presentation of findings and insights to stakeholders.
  • Cleansing and validation of data to ensure accurate reporting and ease of processing.

Critical Skills Required:

  • Strong mathematical and IT skills.
  • Ability to manage own workload independently and prioritise tasks.
  • The ability to work to tight deadlines, under pressure and with a sense of urgency.
  • Communications skills, both verbal and in writing, together with the ability to communicate at all levels.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to develop strong working relationships.
  • Excellent organisation and prioritising skills.

Critical Knowledge Required:

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of data visualisation software such as Microsoft PowerBI.
  • Good knowledge of other Microsoft Office software such as Teams, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.

Desirable Knowledge and Qualifications:

  • Some knowledge of programming languages such as Python or SQL ideal
  • Level 3 data essentials apprenticeship
  • Level 4 data analyst

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • A-Level Mathematics (Grade 4 or above) or equivalent
  • English GCSE (Grade 4 or above) or equivalent
