Job Overview
Execution consulting is a core capability of the Aquis Markets sales team, enabling us to deliver data-driven insights through quantitative analysis, product recommendations, and product innovation. We are looking for a junior data engineer to further develop the current data infrastructure that powers this function — helping our team deliver world-class analysis to clients at scale.

Assist in building and maintaining systems that transform raw market data into actionable insights for Aquis and our trading members. Support the development of data pipelines and analytical frameworks to accelerate trade analytics delivery. Contribute to our understanding of Aquis market microstructure and the broader European equity landscape. Help provide clean, reliable data to management to inform strategic decision-making. Identify opportunities to automate manual or repetitive processes across the team.
Required Skills/Experience
Essential
A degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative subject — or up to one year of relevant work experience. Solid foundation in SQL and Python (academic projects and personal work count). Understanding of data structures, pipelines, and how data moves between systems. Curiosity about financial markets and a willingness to learn market-specific concepts on the job. Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
