(Junior) Datacentre Facilities Engineer (HVAC) — Heathrow/Slough
Salary: Up to £32,000 + Benefits
Location: Heathrow (with some mandatory travel to other sites)
Note: Applicants must be eligible for SC Clearance and hold a full, valid UK driving license.
A dynamic organisation is seeking a Datacentre Facilities Engineer to join its expanding team. This role is ideal for someone passionate about maintaining critical infrastructure, with a focus on electricity (low-voltage systems, switchgear, generators) and HVAC systems.
Key Responsibilities

24/7 Facilities Support:
- Monitor and maintain power systems (UPS, generators), cooling infrastructure (HVAC), and fire detection/suppression mechanisms.
- Carry out active troubleshooting for both mechanical and electrical faults, including emergencies during on-call shifts.

Preventative & Corrective Maintenance:
- Perform scheduled inspections (daily, weekly, or monthly) via PPM schedules—collaborating with external contractors and supervising repairs where needed.
- Ensure all work complies with OSHA standards, site-specific policies, and UK health & safety regulations.

Operational Assurance:
- Leverage Building Management Systems (BMS) to oversee systems, log anomalies, and escalate issues proactively.

Client & Project Facilitation:
- Assist in implementing best practices for safe racking in datacentre environments when clients occupy floors.
- Travel to secondary sites as required for emergency support, shortage coverage, or project expansion.
Essential Criteria
- Technical Knowledge:
- Working-level experience in:
- LV electrical systems (substation switchgear, generators)
- HVAC metaphysical control, cooling plant, and Seismic suppression logics
- Tied with network security systems and infrastructure logics basis

Problem-Solving Under Pressure:
- Quick diagnostic skills to isolate, assess, and resolve failures during outages, power fluctuations, or maintenance downtime.

- Ability to communicate effectively with IT teams, contractors, and third-party vendors—with a focus on identifying and addressing issues calmly.

Flexibility & Availability:
- Willingness to work on-call, including weekends and bank holidays, ensuring another rotations or notable periods are operational.
