ABOUT THE ROLE & TEAM
A Junior Border Control Deployment Engineer supports the planning, installation, configuration, and maintenance of automated border control systems such as eGates, kiosks, biometric devices, and supporting software. The role involves working under the guidance of senior engineers and project leads to ensure smooth deployments at airports, seaports, and land borders.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Assist with on-site installation, configuration, and commissioning of border control systems (eGates, kiosks, servers, biometric devices).
- Support integration with backend servers, network infrastructure, and security components.
- Participate in hardware setup, wiring, and connectivity verification.
- Configure application software, databases, and middleware components under supervision.
- Execute and document functional and performance tests (e.g., biometric enrolment, document reader accuracy, system throughput).
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve first-line hardware and software issues.
- Escalate complex technical problems to senior engineers or vendors when required.
- Apply system updates, patches, and hotfixes as directed.
- Provide on-site support during acceptance testing (UAT, FAT, SAT) and project deployments.
- Prepare deployment documentation, installation logs, and technical reports in line with SOPs and security standards.

Qualifications
ABOUT YOUR SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Strong understanding of Windows operating systems, including Windows Server.
- Knowledge of virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V) or containerization (Docker).
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps tools (Jenkins, Git, Ansible), or cloud platforms (Azure).
- Hands-on deployment experience with Kubernetes clusters (AKS, EKS, self-hosted, etc.).
- Basic knowledge of networking, databases (SQL/NoSQL), and software lifecycle concepts.
- Familiarity with scripting (e.g. PowerShell, Bash) and deployment tools is a plus.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
- Passion for learning and working in a fast-paced environment involving mission-critical systems.
NICE-TO-HAVE
- Experience with government IT systems, border control tech, or security products.
- Exposure to cybersecurity principles or compliance standards related to sensitive data environments.
- Previous exposure to secure environments such as government IT, public service platforms, or border security systems.
- Awareness of cybersecurity, identity management, and sensitive-data handling policies.
