Junior Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Bedford
We are seeking an enthusiastic Junior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a key client in Bedford. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years’ experience taking mechanical designs from concept to manufacture using SolidWorks.
Key Responsibilities
- Design bespoke materials handling equipment, from concept to completion
- Develop prototypes and work closely with the manufacturing team to ensure ** manufacturability**
- Produce detailed 2D drawings and 3D CAD models for proactive documentation and communication
- Provide technical expertise throughout the product development cycle, ensuring designs meet usability and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with colleagues, clients, and suppliers, including attending site surveys and product commissions
- Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail

Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in mechanical design, preferably using SolidWorks and AutoCAD
- Design experience in the following areas is desirable:
- Metal fabricated products
- Machinery
- Material handling systems
- Mechanical systems
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, or related field
- Strong problem-solving and self-management skills, with the ability to work autonomously
- Exceptional communication skills, including collaborating with suppliers, customers, and cross-functional teams
