Desktop Support Engineer
Westcon-Comstor is recruiting a Desktop Support Engineer who will be responsible for day-to-day support of users and computers, managing Office 365 environment, as well as collaborating with other Desktop Support team members to support other offices in the region.
This is an internal customer-facing role and requires excellent prioritisation, responsiveness, and customer service, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills. In consultation with the Desktop Support Manager, the successful candidate will contribute to the efficient allocation of computer hardware and software resources, maintain business applications, and ensure the reliability and sustainability of information and communication resources. Some previous experience in both Desktop and Office 365 support role is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Onsite analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of desktop problems for end users. Software/hardware/network troubleshooting. Analytical skills with the ability to see patterns and trends.
- Work and collaborate with Desktop Support team and IT Infrastructure engineers to prevent system downtime.
- Assist in user/hardware movement and branch relocations.
- Ability to follow process, procedures, and work in a target driven environment.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a wide range of customers.
- Customer focused, passionate about customer service and service quality.
- A quick learner who can absorb technical information and willing to learn.
- Possesses great attention to detail, tenacity and takes ownership.
- Responsible for requesting and coordinating vendor support.
- Methodical at keeping tickets and end users up to date.
- Good knowledge of Windows 11 client OS - installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with managing Apple MAC computers.
- Deployment of client OS via manual process and automated software.
- Understanding of Active Directory.
- Experience with managing antivirus software - MS Defender, as well as managing and preventing virus outbreaks.
- Desktop performance monitoring and optimization.
- Good knowledge of wireless technologies - configuration and support of laptops & printers.
- Understanding and troubleshooting DNS & DHCP systems would be advantageous.
- Managing and troubleshooting access to shared folders and shared printers.
- Oversees the procurement, setup, and running of hardware and software for company needs.
- Good knowledge of Lenovo hardware maintenance.
- Good understanding of how to provision devices for imaging in Intune.
- Good knowledge and understanding of Office 365, specifically Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams and OneDrive. SharePoint knowledge a plus.
- Good troubleshooting skills for email related issues.
