Location: Mills Engineering Services HQ at Haydon Industrial Estate
Contract: Permanent | Full-Time
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm
Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience)

Due to continued growth, Mills Engineering Services is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Junior draughts person / steel detailing technician to join our expanding design team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for engineering and CAD who wants to develop their skills while working on exciting projects across the water, infrastructure, structural steel, mechanical, electrical and civil engineering sectors.
From day one, you'll work alongside experienced engineers and designers, gaining hands-on experience and industry-leading mentoring. You'll be involved in real projects, learning how concepts develop into fully coordinated construction and fabrication drawings used on site.

What You'll Be Doing
As a junior draughts person, you'll support the design team by producing high-quality technical drawings and maintaining project documentation. Your responsibilities will include:

- Producing and modifying accurate 2D and 3D AutoCAD drawings from design sketches, engineering mark-ups, site surveys and technical specifications.
- Assisting with the development of structural steel, mechanical, electrical and civil engineering drawings.
- Updating drawings throughout the project lifecycle following design reviews and client feedback.
- Supporting document control by issuing drawings and maintaining project records using document management systems.
- Assisting with bills of materials and technical documentation.
- Ensuring all drawings comply with company CAD standards, relevant regulations and health & safety requirements.
- Working closely with engineers, project managers and fabrication teams to deliver coordinated design solutions.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is enthusiastic, organised and keen to develop a career within engineering design.
Ideally you'll have:
- A good understanding of AutoCAD (college, university or workplace experience).
- Excellent attention to detail and a passion for producing accurate technical drawings.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Good communication skills and confidence working within a team.
- A willingness to learn and develop new technical skills.
- Previous office experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
