Junior Estimator
Junior Estimator – Full-Time Position (Northampton Office)
We are one of the UK’s leading quantity surveying and estimating firms and are seeking a full-time estimator to join our enthusiastic team based in Northampton.
About the Role
My Build Estimate has seen rapid growth due to innovation and outstanding customer service, with exciting expansion plans for the future. We are a driven, dynamic team operating in a fun, collaborative environment, offering career progression and continually evolving skills.
This is an office-based role focusing on:
- Takeoffs
- Bills of quantities
- Cost plans
- Tender preparation for diverse clients including contractors, sub-contractors, developers, and private clients.
Responsibilities
- Setting up estimating files (both digital and paper-based) upon receipt of enquiries, including further updates or amendments.
- Maintaining archives and decision records.
- Managing interfaces with suppliers, subcontractors, and manufacturers throughout the tendering lifecycle from enquiry through to contract award.
- Chasing quotations from suppliers, subcontractors, and manufacturers.
- Conducting takeoffs for residential and commercial projects.
- Upkeeping enquiry and quotation registers per project.
- Completing estimating tasks, pricing, and cost reports.
- Assisting in the creation of internal training manuals.
- Handling telephone queries, logging messages, or directing calls as needed.
- General support and administration duties as required.
- Providing support during peak periods to colleagues, particularly the accounts team.

Requirements & Person Specifications
Formal Qualifications (Desirable but Not Essential)
- Possible qualification in Quantity Surveying (PQS) background
- Relevant estimator training/certifications
Experience & Technical Skills
- Desirable:
- Background in main contract roles or quantity surveying
- Experience in residential project takeoffs and pricing
- Experience with residential new builds (estimates and takeoffs)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
- Familiarity with other estimating/takeoff software
