Your Team

Our Finance team has a large part to play in the success of our business. We are based across a few locations, but operate as one team, and work together to create a positive, productive and highly efficient finance department within News UK.

Day to day you will:

Financial Oversight:

  • Assist Finance Manager with broadcast programming and production costs ensuring efficient financial operations across all stations/Business units.
  • Prepare the budget, 5-year plan and forecasting process for all Programming and Production across the Broadcasting Business.
  • Monitor all Broadcast Programming & Production expenses, identifying opportunities for cost optimisation
  • Input into rolling forecast and overview of revenue performance YTD throughout the year
  • Support with transition of activities to offshore team

Business Partnering and Initiatives:

  • Collaborate with the programming & Production teams and other key stakeholders to provide financial insights and support cost optimisation across all broadcasting P&Ls.
  • Provide ad hoc analysis and project support to enable the successful delivery of business objectives.
  • Assist Finance Manager and Offshore team with reporting to business

Strategic Planning and Audit:

  • Assist Finance Manager with the preparation and presentation of programming budgets/forecasts to the broadcast senior leadership team, providing valuable insights and comparators across all radio stations
  • Support the year-end audit process, ensuring are met in a timely and professional manner
  • Input into the rolling forecast to ensure costs run rates and performance vs Budget is kept up to date throughout the year

Reporting:

  • Support the offshore team with month-end processing and input into reporting of full P&L statements.
  • Assist in the preparation of weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial reports
  • Drive new reporting streams to provide greater insight into cost trends with a focus on challenging cost areas such as casual management.

What we're looking for from you:

  • ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified or actively studying but qualified by experience in a similar role.
  • Commercially aware coupled with strong accounting skills
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex financial data
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience presenting to senior stakeholders
  • Advanced proficiency in financial software and reporting tools
  • Ability to work independently
