The Role

Work on systems that matter. Learn fast. Make an impact.

At Bionic, we’re on a mission to make business easier. Smarter. More human. And our “In Life” squad sits directly at the heart of that.

We’re looking for a Junior Full Stack Software Engineer who is early in their career, curious by nature, and ready to roll up their sleeves. You’ll help us maintain and deliver improvements to some of our most important back-end services, iterate on our Digital Renewals customer journeys and tackle complex Engineering challenges.

If you enjoy solving problems, building things properly, and want to grow alongside experienced engineers, this role is for you.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll work hands-on with the “In Life” squad’s full and diverse array of services. With guidance from senior engineers, you’ll:

  • Build and maintain backend services written in Node.js/TypeScript and Ruby/Rails
  • Work on some of our full stack, customer facing frontend applications written in Nuxt
  • Build infrastructure as code using AWS CDK, working with our serverless event driven architecture
  • Learn and develop on the Salesforce platform, developing batch jobs, and improvements to our quoting tools
  • Follow established Engineering development standards and best practices
  • Utilise AI both in the software development lifecycle and in our solutions
  • Troubleshoot, investigate and resolve bugs/errors
  • Ensure our software remains secure and robust

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
