Junior Geotechnical Design Engineer (York)
About the Role
A specialist Junior Geotechnical Design Engineer based in York is seeking an ambitious engineer to join their team on a variety of exciting residential projects across the UK. With career development support—including assistance towards chartered status—and a wide range of projects to work on, this is an ideal opportunity to launch your geotechnical career and expand your expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and refine ground models for projects
- Design structures including:
- Retaining walls
- Foundations
- Piles
- Reinforced soil slopes
- Conduct ground movement assessments and provide consulting support to the wider engineering team
- Work on both residential and commercial projects

Key Eligibility Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- A degree in:
- Engineering Geology
- Geotechnical Engineering
- Civil Engineering (preferably with geotechnical specialisation) (An MSc is preferred but not mandatory)
- A full, clean UK driving licence

Preferred Experience (Not Mandatory)
- Geotechnical engineering experience with foundational knowledge of soil mechanics
- Familiarity with industry software, including:
- AutoCAD
- Excel
- ALP
- PDisp
- Rocscience Slide
- ADC Adsec
- Oasys Pile and WALLAP
Location & Compliance
- Must be commutable to York and surrounding areas
- Full right to work in the UK
