Junior Geotechnical Design Engineer

Junior Geotechnical Design Engineer (York)

About the Role

A specialist Junior Geotechnical Design Engineer based in York is seeking an ambitious engineer to join their team on a variety of exciting residential projects across the UK. With career development support—including assistance towards chartered status—and a wide range of projects to work on, this is an ideal opportunity to launch your geotechnical career and expand your expertise.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine ground models for projects
  • Design structures including:
    • Retaining walls
    • Foundations
    • Piles
    • Reinforced soil slopes
  • Conduct ground movement assessments and provide consulting support to the wider engineering team
  • Work on both residential and commercial projects

Key Eligibility Requirements

Essential Qualifications

  • A degree in:
    • Engineering Geology
    • Geotechnical Engineering
    • Civil Engineering (preferably with geotechnical specialisation) (An MSc is preferred but not mandatory)
  • A full, clean UK driving licence

Preferred Experience (Not Mandatory)

  • Geotechnical engineering experience with foundational knowledge of soil mechanics
  • Familiarity with industry software, including:
    • AutoCAD
    • Excel
    • ALP
    • PDisp
    • Rocscience Slide
    • ADC Adsec
    • Oasys Pile and WALLAP

Location & Compliance

  • Must be commutable to York and surrounding areas
  • Full right to work in the UK
