Role Overview
Sperry Marine are a global leader in the marine navigation systems industry, providing integrated technical solutions for the commercial and naval markets. Headquartered in the UK, we have an extensive international presence across Europe, the Americas and Asia, employing almost 400 people across ten countries.
We are currently seeking a Junior Hardware Engineer to join our Engineering Department in New Malden. This role will play a key part in our radar sensor development team, focusing on electronics development for maritime navigation systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Work in the Hardware team to support the development of electronics for new and existing products.
- Take current and future designs of PCBs.
- Support improvements to existing products and obsolescence driven changes.
- Where applicable support internal and external Type Approval Testing, following test plans and liaising with test houses.
- Hands on project work, assembling cable harnesses, PCB soldering and fault diagnostics in the engineering lab.
- Support inputs into technical documentation for electronic systems, including specifications, schematics and test reports, in accordance with engineering standards and regulatory environments.
- Work in a focused, agile team, contributing high-quality results with senior members of the hardware team.

About You
We're looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and detail-oriented engineer who thrives in a collaborative environment and has a strong technical foundation. Ideal candidates will have:
- Understanding of electronic fundamental principals
- Experience in interpreting and electronic schematics
- Understanding of how drawings, documents and BOM's are created and managed within an engineering environment.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and techniques
- Knowledge of professional eCAD software (preferably PADS PRO)
- Experience with electronics simulation (preferably LTSpice)
- Hands on lab experience (competent using oscilloscopes, soldering, etc.)
- Understanding of regulatory environments to achieve compliance
- Good communicator and able to present and summarise complex information to a wide audience
