Junior Infrastructure Engineer
Junior Infrastructure Engineer – Aerospace Defence & Security Sector

Sopra Steria’s Aerospace Defence and Security sector is currently recruiting for a Junior Infrastructure Engineer to join a growing team supporting a key client in the aerospace industry. This is a fantastic opportunity for candidates with a background in some area of IT looking to build a career working on complex infrastructures using modern, industry-standard technologies.
Ideally, you will have:
- Some existing IT experience in Service Analysis or IT Support with a passion for delivering high levels of service
- Interest in a career supporting the design, maintenance, and improvement of complex IT infrastructures across three UK sites
This role will be initially based at our office in Newport with flexibility for hybrid working as you learn and develop.
Due to our contractual agreement with the client, we are only able to progress with candidates eligible for SC clearance.

Responsibilities
- Assist the infrastructure team with:
- Managing incidents, requests, changes, and problems
- Actively monitoring infrastructure health, performance, and availability using monitoring tools
- Administering Windows (Virtual and Physical) systems to ensure high availability and performance
- Supporting server environments and estates, including patching for Windows, VMWare, and Citrix
- Creating and maintaining technical documentation to facilitate knowledge sharing and skills development
Requirements
- A basic understanding of On-Prem IT Infrastructure
- Some experience or familiarity with:
- Windows Servers
- VMware, or similar virtualisation technologies
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills, essential for coordinating with multi-site teams
- A passionate approach to building a career within Infrastructure / IT systems management in a dynamic, multi-location environment
- Working within a customer-focused environment
- A self-motivated individual ready to grow

- Salary: Up to £28,000
