Junior RAN Test Engineer

Role Overview

As a Junior RAN Test Engineer, you will join Ericsson’s RAN Test team and help ensure our 4G/5G Radio Access Network (RAN) solutions perform as expected before entering live customer networks. This role is designed for recent graduates, providing structured mentorship and support to build expertise in mobile networks, testing methods, and automation at your own pace.

The position allows you to start with foundational learning while contributing to real project work alongside experienced Integration Engineers, Network Engineers, and Test Managers. This role suits candidates who enjoy technical problem-solving, deep dives into system functionality, and exploration of mobile network technologies, software testing, and automation/AI. Over time, you can progress toward roles such as Integration Engineer, Network Engineer, or Test Specialist.

What You Will Do

During the initial months, the focus is on onboarding and skill development while gradually increasing responsibilities.

  • Follow a structured training plan covering:

    • Core 4G/5G RAN concepts
    • Ericsson’s tools and methodologies
    • Internal learning modules and local workshops
  • Shadow experienced colleagues during all stages of test planning, execution, and troubleshooting.

  • Gradually transition into owning small, defined tasks with ongoing support:

    • Assist in preparing and conducting test cases for new software releases, features, and configuration updates within the RAN simulation environment, under senior guidance.
    • Collect and analyse logs, traces, and basic KPIs from tests to facilitate the investigation of results and potential failure points.
    • Apply existing automation frameworks and scripts to perform tests, with opportunities to contribute incremental improvements (e.g., refining log parsing or streamlining report generation).
    • Support routine test environment tasks (e.g., software patches, minor configurations) once proficiency is demonstrated.
    • Document test cases, results, and defects in standard Ericsson tools such as Azure DevOps/Jira. Ensure clarity and thorough documentation for effective knowledge sharing.
    • Participate in team meeting routines (daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives).
    • Collaborate cross-functionally with colleagues in varied teams and locations.
    • Propose small process improvements based on observed inefficiencies or gaps.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
