Role Overview
As a Junior RAN Test Engineer, you will join Ericsson’s RAN Test team and help ensure our 4G/5G Radio Access Network (RAN) solutions perform as expected before reaching live customer networks. This is an early-career role tailored for recent graduates, with structured mentorship to gradually build expertise in mobile networks, test methods, and automation.
You’ll begin by mastering fundamentals while contributing to real projects alongside Integration Engineers, Network Engineers, and Test Managers. The role suits candidates passionate about problem-solving, technical investigation, and mobile networks, with opportunities to progress towards roles like Senior Engineer, Network Architect, or Test Specialist.
What You Will Do
During your early months, the focus is on learning before taking on increased responsibility as your expertise grows. Key responsibilities include:
- Follow a structured onboarding plan covering 4G/5G RAN concepts, Ericsson tools, and workplace methodologies, using internal learning platforms and local workshops.
- Shadow experienced engineers during test planning, execution, and troubleshooting, then gradually own small, well-defined tasks with hands-on support.
- Assist in preparing and executing test cases for:
- New software releases
- Feature updates
- Configuration changes (All in a guided, structured environment)
- Support the team by:
- Collecting, organising logs, traces, and basic KPIs from test runs for analysis.
- Collaborating on automation frameworks and scripts, starting with basic use and evolving into process improvements (e.g., log parsing, report generation).
- Assisting with daily test environment management, such as software updates and configuration adjustments.
- Report results and defects using standard Ericsson tools (e.g., Azure DevOps/Jira), ensuring clear and traceable documentation.
- Engage in team routines, including:
- Daily stand-ups
- Project planning sessions
- Retrospectives Collaborate across functions/locations, contributing Small process improvements where applicable.

Key Requirements
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in fields relevant to Telecommunications, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Networks & Security.
- Technical interest and foundational knowledge in:
- Core networking (IP, routing, latency, throughput concepts).
- Linux/UNIX (comfortable using terminals and fundamental commands).
- At least one programming/scripting language (Python, Java, C/C++, or Bash—coursework or personal projects).
- Any hands-on testing experience (software creation, systems validation, lab work).
- Mindset and work style:
- Curious and proactive, with a drive to learn and ask questions.
- Practical and structured, breaking down problems step-by-step and refining approaches via iterative learning.
- Collaborative, leveraging team insights, sharing knowledge, and welcoming feedback.
- Detail-oriented, adhering to procedures while pursuing excellence and process refinement.
- Transparent engagement, transparently updating stakeholders on progress and finish with integrity.
