Junior RAN Test Engineer
Role Overview
As a Junior RAN Test Engineer, you will join Ericsson’s RAN Test team and help ensure our 4G/5G Radio Access Network (RAN) solutions function as expected before deployment into live customer networks. This is an early-career role designed for recent graduates, offering structured support, mentoring, and gradual skill development in mobile networks, test methodology, and automation at a controlled pace.
You will start by learning foundational concepts while immediately contributing to real-world projects alongside experienced Integration Engineers, Network Engineers, and Test Managers. Ideal candidates enjoy problem-solving, systems testing, and automation/AI, and have a strong curiosity about telecommunications infrastructure. Over time, you can progress into roles such as Integration Engineer, Network Engineer, or Test Specialist within Ericsson.
What You Will Do
In your early months, focus will be on learning and gradual skill acquisition as you build confidence in the team’s tools and processes. Gradually, you’ll take on greater responsibilities:
-
Learn core concepts & tools
- Follow a structured onboarding plan covering 4G/5G RAN fundamentals, Ericsson tools, and team workflows using internal learning platforms and local workshops.
- Observe and assist experienced colleagues during test planning, execution, and troubleshooting.
-
Support test execution & reporting
- Help prepare and run test cases for new software versions, features, and configurations in the RAN test environment, guided by senior engineers.
- Collect, organise, and interpret logs, traces, and basic Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) from test runs to aid issue analysis.
- Use existing automation frameworks and scripts (e.g., Python, Bash) to execute tests, and contribute small improvements over time (e.g., log parsing, report generation).

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
