Job Title: Junior RAN Test Engineer

Role Overview

As a Junior RAN Test Engineer, you will join Ericsson’s RAN Test team to ensure our 4G/5G Radio Access Network (RAN) solutions function as expected before deployment into live customer networks. This is an early-career role targeted at recent graduates, offering structured support, mentorship, and gradual exposure to mobile networks, test methods, and automation at a sustainable pace.

You’ll begin by mastering core concepts and contributing to real projects alongside experienced Integration Engineers, Network Engineers, and Test Managers. This role is ideal for those who enjoy:

  • Understanding technical systems
  • Practical problem-solving
  • Curiosity about mobile networking, software testing, and automation/AI

With time, you can progress into roles such as Integration Engineer, Network Engineer, or Test Specialist within Ericsson.

What You Will Do

Initially, your focus will be on learning and building confidence. As you progress, responsibilities will expand alongside your expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow a structured onboarding plan, covering 4G/5G RAN concepts, Ericsson tools, and team processes via learning platforms and local workshops.
  • Shadow experienced colleagues during test planning, execution, and troubleshooting, then independently undertake well-defined tasks with support.
  • Contribute to test case preparation and execution for new software loads, features, and configuration changes—collaborating closely with senior engineers.
  • Collect and organise logs, traces, and basic KPIs from test runs to help the team analyse results and investigate issues.
  • Utilise existing automation frameworks and scripts for testing, gradually contributing small improvements (e.g., log parsing or basic reporting).
  • Assist with everyday test environment tasks (e.g., software updates or minor configurations) after initial training.
  • Document test cases, results, and defects in standard Ericsson tools (e.g., Azure DevOps/Jira) with clear, detailed notes.
  • Engage in team routines (stand-ups, planning, retrospectives) while collaborating across functions and locations, proposing improvements.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
